Photo Gallery: CAPS Facilitator Training
HAP has looked at ways of engendering more positive interaction between police and community members. In November of 2005, working with CAPS (Community Alternatives Policing Strategies), HAP enabled a training for CAPS community meeting facilitators. Community volunteers facilitate one meeting a month in their police beat area. Using trainers from the Police Training Academy, CAPS facilitators came together to discuss ideas and methods for more effective meeting direction.
Subsequently, Facilitators have met to discuss how to address some of the chronic issues that create difficulty in meeting facilitation. This ongoing support and work towards systemic solutions promises to better the CAPS meetings and encourage positive resident/police interaction.
