Action Areas
HAP members participate in Action Areas. Action Areas act as planning groups around strategies and objectives that are designed to improve the whole health of the community. The areas are structured to center around specific strategies while acknowledging the interconnected nature of all issues the coalition addresses. Action Areas seek to partner existing resources in creative and innovative ways. Action Areas also seek to address root causes of priority issues in Albany Park.
Guiding Strategy – to promote both cross-cultural understanding and interaction, as well as resident involvement in community planning and action.

Safety
The Wellness Action Area focuses on both universal, equal access to care and healthy behaviors.
Key Strategy – to maximize the ability of Albany Park Residents to access health care services and minimize health care disparities and then to collaborate with other stakeholders to develop a plan to identify, educate, and promote healthy lifestyles.
Positive Youth and Communities Development
The Positive Youth and Communities Development Action Area focuses on the support available for Albany Park youth and their families while seeking to develop youth as leaders.
Key Strategy – to enrich family and social support networks for youth to improve the chances of youth success and to develop and promote youth leadership
The Community Safety Action Area focuses on far reaching issues of resident safety, from police/resident interaction to issues of family violence.
Key Strategy – to promote community residents involvement in community planning towards safety through community leader identification and unified actions
Healthy Albany Park Coalition does not actively conduct activities in the secondary action areas; however, we understand the importance of these topics in the health of the residents and the neighborhood. The Coalition supports existing efforts in the area and seeks opportunities to partner on programming.
Job Opportunities
Key Strategy – to facilitate access to and eligibility for job opportunities.
Affordable Housing
Key Strategy – to work with existing organizations to ensure, sustain and utilize affordable housing for low-income populations at a community and individual level.
